What is CBD?
Cannabinoids are substances found in the cannabis plant. The two best known cannabinoids are CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol).
THC is known for its psychoactive effects. However CBD has no such properties and is by far the most beneficial component of the cannabis plant.
The World Health Organisation (WHO)
At its November 2017 meeting, the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECDD) concluded that, in its pure state, cannabidiol does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm. As such, as CBD is not currently a scheduled substance in its own right (only as a component of cannabis extracts), current understanding does not justify a change in this scheduling position and does not justify the scheduling of the substance.
Not scheduling a substance means that it is not subject to strict international controls, including for production and supply. Its legal status in countries is something for national legislators to decide. Some countries have eased regulations around cannabidiol, considering products containing CBD medical products. These countries include Australia, Canada, Switzerland, UK, and US.
The Human Endocannabinoid System
There are two types of cannabinoid receptors in our bodies: CB1 and CB2.
CB1 receptors are mainly in the brain and central nervous system whereas CB2 receptors are found in the peripheral organs, especially in immune cells.
Controlling the Human Endocannabinoid System plays an important role in maintaining overall good health.
Following extraction and purification, CBD compounds are processed into crystals with a very high percentage of CBD and minimal ballast substances and precursors. MariPharm CBD oil contains no related substances such as THC except in trace quantities of less than 0.05%. The oil thus has no psychoactive effect whatsoever. It does not alter human awareness or perception.
Colour, Taste and Aroma
MariPharm's patented and unique extraction process produces a completely pure and transparent product.
Purity and quality of CBD oil is recognised by the colour. CBD oils that appear brown, discoloured and sticky have undergone incomplete extraction and purification which can leave unnecessary and sometimes harmful residues.
Not only is the colour of CBD oil indicative of the quality, but the flavour and taste of the CBD product also speaks to the sophistication of the production process. Most CBD products have a bitter or unpleasant aftertaste, which can also indicate pollution. Conversely, MariPharm CBD oil has a pleasant taste and neutral aroma.
This makes ingesting MariPharm CBD oil as a nutritional food supplement safe.
